Donatella Versace is moving into a new phase of her career with plans to build an original fashion venture alongside US retailer REVOLVE, marking one of her most significant moves since stepping away from the creative leadership of Versace.

The project is being developed as a long-term business rather than a one-off collaboration. That distinction matters. Instead of lending her name to an established label or capsule collection, Versace will be involved in creating a new fashion proposition from the ground up, backed by REVOLVE’s retail infrastructure, digital reach and access to younger luxury consumers.

The partnership arrives after a period of major change around the Versace house. Donatella stepped down as chief creative officer in 2025 and became chief brand ambassador, while Prada later completed its acquisition of the company. Her new venture now places her creative future on a separate track from the brand she led for decades.

REVOLVE brings a different commercial model to the partnership. The group has built its business around digitally driven fashion retail, influencer-led marketing and a strong Millennial and Gen Z customer base. Its FWRD platform has also pushed the company further into luxury, while recent investments in owned brands point to ambitions beyond retail alone.

For Versace, the venture offers something increasingly rare in established luxury: the chance to begin without the constraints of an inherited house structure. For REVOLVE, it brings the credibility and visibility of one of fashion’s most recognisable creative figures.

What emerges will be closely watched. The project sits at the intersection of legacy, digital commerce and new-brand creation, making it as much a business experiment as a fashion launch.
